At the San Diego International Airport this beautiful fountain had damage as a result of long-term water exposure. The chemicals used to keep the water clean had taken a toll on the black granite, which had a lifeless gray appearance. Some of the granite edge pieces were ready to separate from the backing.
The grout lines at the base of the fountain had portions that were eroded or missing. Many of the tiny blue tiles on the fountain base were loose.
We drained the fountain and allowed it to dry completely. We removed, cleaned, and then reattached all the loose pieces of granite and tile and replaced the missing grout. Finally, we honed, polished, and sealed the granite, restoring its clarity and dark, elegant shine.
