Travertine

Travertine Cleaning, Repair, and Refinishing / San Diego CA

Travertine is a beautiful stone with lots of character…

…and, unfortunately, potential problems.

No worries — our services can keep your travertine looking pristine.

Travertine, which comes in a variety of white, tan, and cream colors, is characterized by pitted holes that may remain unfilled for a rustic, natural-looking finish or may be filled in for a smooth finish. Over time, filled holes may open again, but we can fill them for you so that the smooth finish of your travertine is restored.

Travertine may be honed (matte finish) or polished. These finishes need to be properly cared for and from time to time may require honing to remove scratches and etching or the stone may need to be re-polished and sealed. We use only the best diamond pads, abrasives, powders, and the latest technology to give your travertine the best possible appearance. We can clean, hone, polish and seal your travertine and recommend a maintenance program to fit your specific needs.

We Specialize in Travertine Refinishing and Care

Travertine can be honed and polished to a stunningly beautiful finish: satin/matte, polished, or custom. Travertine should be professionally cleaned every one to two years, and in many cases, sealed, as well.

Lippage Removal

The beauty and safety of your installation can be diminished by lippage, that is, unevenly set tiles. Your travertine can have a uniform, beautifully finished, flat surface when we grind and diamond-hone or polish it. Contact us today to minimize the risk of trip and fall mishaps.

Caring For It

We make it a point to leave every customer and client with instructions for cleaning and caring for your travertine. Be sure to visit our Caring For It page to download our Stone and Tile Care Guide.
Tips to keep your travertine looking like new:
  • Dust mop or vacuum with a soft bristled brush
  • Clean up spills immediately.
  • Clean with a neutral pH cleaner
  • Always test any cleaner in an inconspicuous area
  • Remember that some latex backed area rugs my discolor your stone
  • Area rugs with a rough or course backing may scratch your stone
