Here is an image of the repaired and restored monument. It’s difficult for anyone to know which portions have been repaired, because it all blends so nicely.
Problem
The entrance to the Golden Lotus Temple in Self Realization Meditation Gardens, located in Encinitas, CA, is all that is left of the temple, which slid into the ocean over fifty years ago. The terrazzo steps now serve as a monument to the early development of Self Realization Fellowship. The steps, maintained only with an occasional hosing, had been exposed to the weather and ocean salt water for five decades.
Solution
Since parts of the remains were deteriorating and falling apart, Excel Stone and Tile Care worked with a company from Georgia to color match the marble chips and concrete. Because of extreme fading over the years, no two areas of the terrazzo were the same color. Nevertheless, our technicians were able to closely match the color, and the client was extremely satisfied and glad that we could help save the monument.
